About This first Nations Project
Tekton Construction was proud to partner with the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation to deliver a unique specialty project — a new Powwow stadium designed to host cultural celebrations and community events.

Located an hour and a half north of Williams Lake, this project came with distinctive challenges. The design incorporated large poles requiring precise positioning and layout using surveying equipment and Total station software. Our team installed all joist hangers and trusses for the stadium-style bleachers, engineered and prefabricated supports, and an intricate drum arbor framework. The build also included a music booth to house PA equipment, ensuring the venue could meet the needs of both traditional and modern performances.
Working under the direction of the project engineer, every element was built to code while maximizing material efficiency. Tekton’s approach goes beyond simply “meeting the spec” — we repurposed on-site materials, corrected water slopage issues, and created additional camping space for event visitors. These improvements not only enhanced the functionality of the space but were delivered at no additional cost to the client throughout the course of construction.

Doing More Than We Are Paid As An Investment In The Future
Even waste timbers found new life, being transformed into extra outpost electrical plug installations to better serve the community. This commitment to resourcefulness and long-term value is part of the Tekton way — making the most of what’s available to ease contractor needs and leave clients with benefits that extend far beyond project completion.

Since its completion, the stadium has become a vibrant focal point for the community — hosting powwows, concerts, and special gatherings that bring the Nation together. The venue’s thoughtful design and durable construction have allowed it to serve not only as an event space but as a symbol of pride, unity, and cultural continuity for years to come.
