About This Sea Can Storage Project

In Roberts Creek, BC, Tekton Construction delivered a purpose-built storage facility for the Department of Fisheries, transforming challenging terrain into a durable, high-capacity operations hub.

The project began with complete ground remediation to reclaim swamp land, carried out under the direction of a geotechnical engineer. Engineered fill created a stable foundation capable of supporting stacked storage containers, each precisely placed by crane. Structurally engineered trusses were then installed, providing weather protection and long-term durability for critical fisheries equipment that had previously been stored outdoors.

To maximize the site’s functionality, Tekton constructed a retaining wall and installed culverts, enabling rear access to the containers via a new service road. Located in a remote, backwoods area outside Port Alberni, the project required our crew to live on-site throughout construction. By reclaiming and repurposing waste materials generated during the build, we were able to create additional parking space — a value-added improvement delivered at no extra cost to the client.
